1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to LifeJRNL, a private personal media journaling application developed by Lawren Burroughs. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the LifeJRNL application and any related services.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using LifeJRNL, or by clicking an in-app button labeled “I Agree,” “Accept,” or similar, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to this Privacy Policy and the LifeJRNL Terms of Use. If you do not agree, you must not use the app and should delete it from your device.

LifeJRNL is designed to comply with applicable laws and with Apple’s App Store requirements. Acceptance of this Privacy Policy is a condition of using the app.

LifeJRNL is licensed to you, not sold. Apple Inc. is not a party to this Privacy Policy and is not responsible for the app or its data practices.

2. Description of the Service

LifeJRNL provides a secure platform for personal media journaling, allowing you to create, organize, and manage journal entries—including text, images, and other media—directly on your iOS device.

The app includes artificial intelligence features to assist with journaling, organization, and content generation. By default, supported AI features process your information on-device using Apple’s Foundation Models Framework.

If you explicitly opt in to optional cloud-based AI features, certain information may be relayed through Vercel to Gemini, a U.S.-based AI provider, solely to provide the requested functionality. Only the minimum information necessary is transmitted, and only as described in this Privacy Policy.

LifeJRNL does not intentionally include your real name, email address, or other direct identifiers in AI requests unless you choose to include such information in the content you submit.

3. Information Handling

3.1 On-Device Data

Journal entries and associated media are stored locally on your device. LifeJRNL does not access or transmit this content unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires network processing.

3.2 Optional Cloud-Based AI

When cloud-based AI is enabled by you, limited journal text and related metadata may be transmitted for transient processing. Data is not stored long-term on LifeJRNL servers.

3.3 Backups

If you enable iCloud or other backup services, your data is stored in accounts you control. LifeJRNL does not have access to your backups and cannot restore deleted data on your behalf.

4. Third-Party Services

Certain features rely on third-party services such as Apple services, Vercel, or Gemini. These providers operate independently and are subject to their own privacy policies and terms.

Optional cloud-based features are used only if you enable them. Any data shared with third parties is limited to what is necessary to deliver the requested functionality.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LifeJRNL is not responsible for the practices, security, or failures of third-party services.

5. User Choices and Controls

• Enable or disable cloud-based AI features at any time in Settings
• Enable or disable iCloud backups through iOS settings
• Delete your journal entries directly within the app
• Remove the app to delete all locally stored data

If you disable backups or cloud features, you assume the risk of permanent data loss.

6. Data Security

LifeJRNL relies on iOS security features, including device encryption and app sandboxing, to protect your data. Network communications, when used, are protected with industry-standard encryption.

No system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device.

7. Data Retention

Data stored on your device remains until you delete it. Data processed through optional cloud-based AI features is processed transiently and not retained by LifeJRNL.

8. Children’s Privacy

LifeJRNL is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app where required by law. Continued use of LifeJRNL after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
